Originally from Rouen, France, Valentine studied animation in the United States. After studying anthropology and arts at United World College in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, she attended Bennington College in Vermont. There she studied Video and Japanese, and started stop-motion animation in 2017.

 

In the winter of 2018-19, she began to work on puppet fabrication for stop motion animation, with an independent study on puppet making, using mold making, silicone casting, armatures, costumes, magnets, etc.

In January and February 2020, Valentine was granted the Arts and Technology fellowship and interned with the animation studio Wiredfly in Aarhus, Denmark, where she learned more on the interaction between handmade fabrication and the innovative use of technology in stop motion animation. Through her senior year in college, Valentine worked as animation studio monitor, and as an animation assistant in April and May 2020.
